Ivo van Hove’s Production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni Returns September 24
Bass-baritones Ryan Speedo Green and Kyle Ketelsen sing their first Met performances of the title role

New York, New York (August 18, 2025)—Tony Award–winning director Ivo van Hove’s production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni returns for 14 performances beginning September 24. Conducting his first Don Giovanni at the Met, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the company’s Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, takes the podium to lead the first of two casts, headlined by bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green, who makes his Met role debut as the title character. Soprano Federica Lombardi and tenor Ben Bliss reprise the roles of Donna Anna and Don Ottavio, which they sang together at the Met in 2023. Sopranos Janai Brugger and Hera Hyesang Park make their Met role debuts as Donna Elvira and Zerlina, respectively. Bass-baritone Adam Plachetka reprises the role of Leporello, bass William Guanbo Su makes his Met role debut as Masetto, and bass Adam Palka makes his company debut as the Commendatore.
In his first performances as Principal Guest Conductor, Daniele Rustioni leads the second cast, beginning November 6, with bass-baritone Kyle Ketelsen making his Met role debut as Don Giovanni. Sopranos Guanqun Yu and Andrea Carroll reprise the roles of Donna Anna and Zerlina, respectively, and soprano Anita Hartig makes her Met role debut as Donna Elvira. Tenor Paul Appleby and bass-baritone Brandon Cedel reprise the roles of Don Ottavio and Masetto, respectively. Bass-baritone Tommaso Barea makes his company debut as Leporello, and bass Soloman Howard makes his Met role debut as the Commendatore.
Ivo van Hove’s production of Don Giovanni premiered in 2023, featuring a creative team that included set and lighting designer Jan Versweyveld, costume designer An D’Huys, projection designer Christopher Ash, and choreographer Sara Erde.
Met Under 40

Don Giovanni Broadcasts on Radio and Online
The September 24, October 20, and November 6 and 19 performances of Don Giovanni will be broadcast live on Metropolitan Opera Radio on the SiriusXM app and streamed live on the Met’s website, metopera.org. Audio from a fall performance will also be rebroadcast over The Robert K. Johnson Foundation–Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network on April 11.
