Dance

The Metropolitan Opera is auditioning only dancers who currently or have previously danced at the Met for the 2026-27 new production of Macbeth, directed by Louisa Proske and choreographed by Jorrell Lawyer-Jefferson. We are seeking 12 performing and 4 cover dancers with exceptional technical training in contemporary, modern and/or contemporary ballet to portray women in the production. Dancers should be comfortable with improvisational technologies, floorwork, and should also have a strong sense of physical acting. 

To fulfill this engagement, dancers will need to be available for rehearsals currently beginning August 10 through September 21, 2026, and as needed; and for ten (10) performances currently scheduled for: September 22, 26 matinee, 29; October 2, 5, 8, 11 matinee, 14, 17 matinee, 20, 2026.

IMPORTANT: Pre-registration for a 60-minute audition slot within the timeframe listed below can be done HERE beginning January 12, 2026 at 11:00AM.

Rehearsals will pay approximately $63.30/hour. Overtime rates are paid under some circumstances, as provided in The Met’s agreement with AGMA. Performances will pay approximately $227.07/performance performed, or $227.07/performance covered. These rates are subject to the outcome of collective bargaining with AGMA to occur before the expiration of the current agreement on July 31, 2026. Performance extras are paid when appropriate based on casting, choreography, and staging. These roles will be hired as W2 employees.
